Are you ready to rock 2017?
If you said “yes,” you are in luck.
Every year, I like to showcase the popular hair trends of that particular year. It’s kinda fun to go back through the previous years and see what has changed.
I do have to say that I am kinda loving the styles this year; it may even be one of my favorites of the recent years.
Without further ado, I present to you the 7 most popular hairstyles of 2017…
Braids have been so popular for at least the past 5 years.
However, in 2017, braids have been loosened up and tousled. To follow this trend, undo your braid a little and let some hair hang out of it.
The Modern Shag
The shag was pretty popular in the ’70s but has been making its way back around this year.
To achieve a shag haircut, you are going to need a lot of short layers that blend in with the rest of your hair. Pair this haircut with some of the other trends on this list to be ultra-trendy.
I’m not gonna lie… I’ve always been a little jealous that I can’t make my hair do this.
Natural hair has also been slowly increasing in popularity, but this year, it has been large and in charge on the runways.
Sleek, Straight Hair
I’ve always been a fan of straight hair, as it was popular when I was in high school (in the early 2000s). This year, sleek, straight hair (with a clean part) has been prevalent on the runway.
For this look to work, your hair needs to be in good condition.
I’m also a fan of the high ponytail.
To be honest, I hate spending a lot of time styling my own hair. I think it’s because I have spent so much time with other people’s’ hair that I lost the desire to do my own.
Anyways, I’m telling you that because I often wear my hair in a high ponytail, and I think it’s a timeless look.
Slick back your hair and decorate it (with accessories or wrapping hair around the ponytail) to maximize the trendiness of this look.
Once again, I’m a huge fan of curly hair. My hair does not hold curl well, but I wish it did.
This is a great way to add volume and movement to any hairstyle.
Want long-lasting curls? Talk to your hairstylist about a perm (they have evolved a lot since the 1980s).
Since Miley took the plunge in 2012, the short hair has become so popular for the ladies. Anything from an undercut to a completely shaved head is in style, and the boyish hair trend is in full force for 2017.
In fact, it is probably one of the most popular hairstyles of 2017. In my opinion, some of these hairstyles can be super cute but aren’t flattering on everyone.
They will also take a lot of time and awkward phases to grow out, so choose wisely.
