Placenta Hair Treatment?

So I survived my first week of working for Sally Beauty Supply, and I have learned a ton of new stuff about hair that I can’t wait to share with you all. What I want to discuss in this article is something I recently came across in the shop: placenta hair treatment. I saw it and thought it sounded a bit crazy so I decided to investigate….

A Placenta hair treatment is a real thing in the hair industry but do you know what it is? The answers to your questions might shock you...

Is it really made from placenta?

First things first, yes it really is made out of placenta. For those of you that might not know what placenta is, it’s an organ that connects between the uterine wall of a pregnant women, and the developing baby in her womb. The purpose of the placenta s to feed the baby nutrients and eliminate waste and gas through the mother’s blood supply. But before you get freaked out, this hair product is not made from leftover human placentas from the hospital. It typically comes from sheep or cows.

Besides the obvious, what is it?

A placenta hair treatment is a type of conditioning treatment that will leave the hair feeling rejuvenated. It eliminates frizz, adds much-needed nutrients to over-processed hair, repairs damage and strengthens hair. Also, it can work wonders on coarse hair, making it a hot commodity in the multi-cultural market. It has also been said to reduce dandruff and comes in deep conditioner form, shampoos and leave-in conditioners.

Does placenta hair treatment really work?

I can’t say first-hand, but I am looking into getting some soon and trying it. When I do, I will write and update with my opinion. However, it makes sense to me that it would work. Placentas contain so many nutrients, that its common for the mother to eat it after giving birth. It’s even becoming a popular trend in humans. You should figure that if something is so rich in good nutrients, it should definitely be good for your hair. In most reviews I have read online, the customers rave about how much they love it.

Want to give it a whirl? You can find it on Amazon!

What do you think? Are you willing to try a placenta hair treatment for healthy hair? I’d love to read what you think about this in the comments section below!
