10. Epsom Salt as a Blackhead Remover
Epsom salt is a cheap product that can be purchased almost anywhere, and is used for a wide array of things, from relaxing muscles to feeding plants. However, did you know that it can be used for your face? Yes, Epsom salt is an effective blackhead remover.
To try this method, mix one cup of boiling water with one teaspoon of Epsom salt and three drops of iodine. Let the mixture cool until you are comfortable, and then soak a cotton ball in it. Dab the cotton ball on the blackheads to loosen them enough to squeeze out with a gauze pad.
9. Apple Cider Vinegar as a Shine Booster
Once a week, do an apple cider vinegar rinse on your hair for extreme shine.
Before you get out of the shower, simply pour apple cider vinegar on your hair (make sure you tilt your head back as vinegar does not feel good in your eyes). Work it through with your fingers for a few minutes and then rinse. Don’t worry, when your hair dries, you will not be able to smell any vinegar, and you will have extremely soft and shiny hair.
This works because the acidity in vinegar neutralizes the pH balance of your hair, and shuts down the cuticle, making the hair strand smooth.
8. Knox Gelatin as a Peel-Off Face Mask
To make your own peel-off face-mask, mix 1 tbsp of Knox unflavored gelatin with 1 1/2 tbsp of milk in a plastic cup. Microwave for 10-15 seconds and then immediately apply to face with a popsicle stick.
Once it has dried completely, peel it off to reveal baby-smooth skin.
7. Deodorant as an Anti-Chafe Cream
If you have ever worn short shorts on a hot summer day, you probably know how miserable chafing is. A quick tip is to rub some deodorant on your thighs where they rub together and Voila! No more chafing.
6. Vaseline and Sugar Lip Scrub
Nobody likes chapped lips! Mix some Vaseline and sugar together once a week for a lip scrub to keep your lips perfect and smooth all year round.
5. Use Baby Powder for Longer Lashes
For extra long eyelashes, add some baby powder. No, really. Apply one coat of mascara, then sweep some baby powder across your lashes with a Q-Tip. Apply another coat of mascara to adhere to the powder, and you will have super full, long lashes. You’re welcome.
4. Pam Cooking Spray to Dry Nail Polish
There is really not a lot to explain here. When your nail polish is drying, spray them with cooking spray. This will set the polish and prevent cracks.
3. Witch Hazel as an Astringent
Witch Hazel is a skin solution make from the leaves and bark of the Witch Hazel shrub. It can be used for many skin conditions from bug bites to cuts to razor burn. It’s anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and astringent properties sooth skin, shrink pores, maintain skin elasticity and lock in moisture.
To use an inexpensive astringent, apply with cotton after washing your face, and follow with moisturizer.
2. Use Mouthwash to Heal Bruises
Mouthwash has wonderful antiseptic properties that will heal many things like poison ivy, dandruff, athlete’s foot and more. But did you know it could heal bruises? Rub some mouthwash on the affected area with a cotton swab, to make it instantly look and feel better.
1. Visine to Conceal Pimples
Visine won’t make a pimple any smaller, but it will take out the redness and hide it for a little while. Apply some Visine to a Q-Tip and then hold on the pimple for a few minutes. Now your pimple will be a lot less noticeable.
